The Fall season is back! Many of our friends abroad are beginning to make plans for seasonal travel to Puerto Vallarta, so questions regarding what’s new and exciting in town seem to increase by the minute. If you are returning to Puerto Vallarta during the month of November or are getting ready for your first trip, here are a few things you may want to consider:

As we mentioned before, Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead celebrations will be in full swing at the beginning of the month. The annual iconic celebration takes place November 1 and 2 and this year as in years past, a traditional parade along Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón on November 1, 5:30 – 7 pm, will provide excellent photo-ops, not to mention that most people (children and adults) will be wearing the traditional catrina (skull) makeup, so bring your own accessories! And if you don’t, keep in mind that Casa Cupula will not only participate in the parade; all guests are welcome to join the celebration! If you are staying with us, Casa Cupula will sponsor makeup and transportation to the parade for all guests that want to join us! The following day, the street party organized by Los Muertos Brewing (a five-minute walk from Casa Cupula) on November 2, 2 – 11:30 pm with live entertainment scheduled throughout the day, is a must!

Did you know that you can enjoy a luxurious vacation at Casa Cupula and decorate your home at the same time? Emiliano Zapata, Puerto Vallarta’s cosmopolitan neighborhood right next to us, has dozens of home decor shops and fine art galleries where you can shop for large and small mementos for your home. And if you’re worried about bringing them back, you don’t have to, as most of these businesses have been used to shipping their treasures abroad for years and will handle your new finds with loving care. Galleria Dante on Basilio Badillo, one of Puerto Vallarta’s emblematic art galleries, underwent major remodeling during the summer months, so you will be delighted to enter the new and improved two-story space, now better fused with DiVino Dante, their upstairs wine and tapas bar/restaurant.

With DiVino Dante in mind, if you’ve enjoyed cocktails at Blondies PV on the way to the gay beach or back, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear about their brand new location, Los Otros Blondies (The Other Blondies) on Basilio Badillo St. across from Dante, featuring their premium frozen and craft cocktails and a retail store for all things Blondies—fashion, gifts, beach gear and more.

On Sunday, November 17, Hotel Mercurio’s traditional Sunday Beers, Boys & Burgers switches gears for the season, bringing back live entertainment, DJ and sexy gogo boys wearing Mercurio Swim apparel to the already festive weekly party. Meanwhile, our very own clothing-optional Adam and Steve Parties at the Pool Club on Saturdays have already gone weekly for the season.  See new fashions from Wave including stylish hats and sexy bathing suits every Saturday.  Any day is a good day to enjoy our secluded Pool Club, with poolside food and beverage service and a stunning view of the bay.

Come US Thanksgiving, there will be no shortage of restaurants offering a special dining experience on November 28. That said, we have just announced that Bistro Teresa, a renowned Puerto Vallarta gourmet restaurant, is taking over our food and beverage operations, at the brand-new Bistro Teresa at Casa Cupula offering our guests an even more luxurious experience. With Bistro Teresa behind Casa Cupula’s emblematic Thanksgiving dinner, we are quite certain that it will be wise to reserve a spot early by emailing concierge@casacupula.com. Thanksgiving aside, if you will spend a Sunday in Puerto Vallarta, our Sunday brunch is a must and with only get better with Bistro Teresa at the helm.

Friday after Thanksgiving, the first Southside Shuffle will take place along Basilio Badillo and surrounding streets. This monthly street party comes back for the tenth year in a row, offering visitors and locals a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a number of restaurants, galleries and shops that stay open late, until 10 pm, transforming the neighborhood into a friendly street party with live entertainment, beverages and much more.

Mantamar Beach Club is never shy when it comes to partying. Both Casa Cupula’s Pool Club and Mantamar will host their own Day of the Dead celebration on November 2 with a Masquerade Pool Party. To commemorate Mexico’s Revolution Day (November 20, officially) Mantamar will host a two-day weekend fest November 16-17, with guest DJs and other surprises. US Thanksgiving weekend will feature the House of Olympus White Party, with three days of non-stop parties and entertainment spilling over to Industry Nightclub. Their Top Sky Bar has been hosting RuPaul’s Drag Race UK viewing parties.

Late-night mongers, rejoice! With over 25 gay bars, dance floors and stripper clubs, there is no shortage of evening fun and entertainment in town. Many of these establishments will announce special events around November holiday dates, such as Mexican Revolution (November 20) and US Thanksgiving (November 28). Newcomers will be pleased to learn that all of the aforementioned establishments are located within walking distance from Casa Cupula, so you can rely on local publications, such as GayGuide Vallarta or GayPV—not to mention Casa Cupula’s own concierge—to learn more about them once you arrive in town.
